Last week at this time I was with you.
You were holding me close-
I think it's the closest we've ever been.
You're the one who always makes me
Feel so good.
When I'm with you,
When we're sleeping side by side,
Our bodies a tangle of arms and legs and middles,
When I talk to you on the phone,
When I just think about how you love me.
Now, as I am about to go to sleep,
I remember it's over.
I had a feeling
I wouldn't get to have you long,
Because we were so good together.
But I had to take that chance,
And I'm glad that at least
I have our memories.
And they are so beautiful;
I've never known these feelings before.
I just want you to be happy.
I'll keep these hopeless hopes with me though.
No matter how much it hurts,
I can't let go of you.
