Time

With the passage of time
We all grow older, maybe wiser
We all have experiences
That will last a lifetime
The new year brings new chances
And everyone needs another
Chance at something
Another chance to live fully
The time goes by
And we don't make the changes
But maybe this year we will

Comfort, longing
Just stay here
The world may be calling
But they can wait
Or just go on
I don't care
I'm in bed
My safe place
Safest in the world
No warfare, no bombing
Just my blanket
And pillows
And me
Alone in my bed

Losing

overwhelmed, my mind floats
Above the world
Churning thoughts and frightened
Bad dreams come daily now
I try to think of the good
All that is kind and bright
I call out in frustration
I call out in desperation
My mind quiets
Down to the sound of a carnival
Everyone around me is so happy
Have they lost their minds?
